Affording Private School

A private school experience is within reach for your family. Here are some ways to help manage the cost associated with a superior education.

You can reduce tuition expenses through the Arizona Tuition Tax Credit. You can redirect $500 per individual ($1,000 per couple) from your Arizona tax liability. The money is applied directly to private school tuition costs for your student. While you cannot donate directly to your own child’s tuition, you can receive donations from family members and friends to help defray the cost of your child’s tuition.

Your family and friends simply make a donation in your child’s name to one of the tax credit organizations, in our school’s name and your child’s name, and fill out their corresponding application.

In return, any one donating to a tax credit organization, will receive a dollar for dollar tax credit against their Arizona state income tax. A taxpayer may also be able to claim a federal deduction for the donation.  The taxpayer should consult their tax advisor for specific tax advice.

Uniforms

VCCA maintains an official standard of dress, complete with a school uniform, and all students are required to be in uniform whenever they are at school and at most school-related functions unless otherwise permitted for special circumstances. We maintain this dress code for several reasons:

  • To underscore the seriousness of purpose by encouraging students to think of their attire as an aspect of their work.
  • To enable students to concentrate on their studies.
  • To eliminate the self-consciousness and social competition which fashion tends to promote.
  • To promote a sense of identity with the school and among the students as a group.
  • It is an outward sign of our inward desire to show honor and respect in all that we do.
  • To emphasize learning at VCCA, not clothing.

Uniform Requirements

Students must wear a VCCA uniform polo shirt in red, white, or navy blue. If the uniform shirt becomes torn or significantly faded it needs to be replaced. Uniform style bottoms (pants, shorts, skorts, skirts or jumpers) are required of all K-8th grade students in navy blue or khaki. Uniform bottoms must come from a designated uniform line, such as those sold at Target, Gap, or Dennis Uniforms, and should be free of embroidery, ribbon, rivets, studs, etc. Jeans, cords, sweatpants (shorts), athletic pants (shorts) and cargo pants (shorts) will not be allowed. Girls also have the option of purchasing the Woodland Plaid skirt or jumper from Dennis Uniforms. Tennis shoes should be worn at all times. They are to be of ankle height with enclosed heels and toes and secured with either Velcro or shoelaces. In cold weather a student may wear a long sleeved shirt under the polo shirt. The long sleeved shirt must be solid red, white, or navy blue. Solid red, white, or navy blue sweatshirts may also be worn in the classroom.

Middle School Only

In addition to the above requirements, middle school students also have the option of a uniform oxford shirt in either white or blue. For additional uniform requirements concerning hair, jewelry and makeup, please consult our student handbook.
