Our Teachers

Kindergarten- Mrs. Susan Cox- is our most tenured teacher having taught at Vally Classical Christian Academy for twenty-two years.  Mrs. Cox's classroom management is unparalleled, and she has taught kindergarten and fourth grade in the past. An expert in Shurley Grammar, Mrs. Cox has also developed a fun curriculum for Arizona State History.  Mrs. Cox shares her passion for God and Christian education with students by leading students in a daily time of prayer for themselves, their families, their communities and the world.

1st/2nd Grade- Mrs. Joyce Bebow began teaching at Valley Classical Christian Academy twelve years ago after successfully homeschooling her two children.  Mrs. Bebow holds a teaching degree with a special certification in special education.  Being an expert in unit studies, Mrs. Bebow integrates reading, writing, math, science and social studies.  She has been adeptly teaching our combined first and second grade class for the past two years.  Armed with a strong desire to foster a life-long love of God and His creation in all her students, Mrs. Bebow is a top-notch educator.

3rd Grade- Mrs. Deb Powell joined the staff at Valley Classical Christian Academy as the librarian in 2000. The next year, Mrs. Powell began teaching in the fifth grade classroom.  In 2002, Mrs. Powell moved to the third grade, helping young minds to grow and mature in this challenging grade.  Mrs. Powell has a passion for science, and she uses this gift to educate students to become conscious of the world around them. While Mrs. Powell holds a degree in business, she is currently pursuing her education degree.  A dedicated educator, Mrs. Powell tenaciously helps students meet and exceed their academic goals.

4th/5th Grade- Mrs. Theresa Pinkerton began teaching at Valley Classical Christian Academy in our fourth grade classroom.  In 2005, Mrs. Pinkerton followed her class into fifth grade, and she has found her niche.  Mrs. Pinkerton took a three year break from VCCA to teach in public schools and care for a family member.  She returned to us in 2009, and Valley Classical Christian Academy is very grateful.  Mrs. Pinkerton is a wonderful teacher with a passion for bringing Bible and history to life for her students.

Middle School Team-

Mrs. Jen Anderson

Mr. Brad Golich  holds a degree in business, but left that world to pursue his love of teaching in 2004.  He began teaching in our second grade classroom, and remained there for two years.  After teaching one year in fifth grade, Mr. Golich found his calling in our middle school.  Mr. Golich is a gifted teacher, and he brings a real world perspective to history.

Miss Elise Trujillo  began working in our extended care program while pursuing her education degree.  After graduating in 2008, Miss Trujillo was able to accept a position teaching Middle School Language Arts.  Miss Trujillo is a excellent teacher, and she brings creativity and excitement to her subjects. Miss Trujillo has brought to life classic literature from C.S. Lewis, Mark Twain, Harper Lee and  William Shakespeare. 

Mr. Koos VanLeeuwen began teaching Latin as a part-time teacher in 2001. He began teaching full-time, and has expanded his teaching repertoire to include math and logic.  Mr. Koos holds a Masters Degree in Theology, and is an ordained minister.  A gifted musician, you can often hear Mr. Koos leading worship during morning chapel, and delivering a thought-provoking morning devotional.

Music- Mrs. Tamara Krause began teaching music at Valley Classical Christian Academy two years ago, but is not new to our community. She is a mother to two boys, both of whom are Valley Classical Christian Academy alumnus, and her husband previously served Valley Classical Christian Academy as school principal and a Board Member. Mrs. Krause is a very adept teaching, having taught in both private and public schools.  Mrs. Krause holds a Masters in Choral Instruction, and she has lead choirs from kindergarten through adult.

Art- Mrs. Mary Grant began teaching art for Valley Classical Christian Academy last year.  She is a gifted artist, and has a strong desire to instill value and worth in each student entrusted to her.  Mrs. Grant is an entrepreneur who has ran her own business, and been featured on Sonoran Living.  Mrs. Grant comes to us from the midwest where she attended Michigan State and Aquinas College.
